Introduction
Since the beginning of time, the levels of intelligence that our specie enjoys set humans apart from any other creature in this planet. Not only we spend time going after states of altered consciousness which are produced by certain substances, but primitive humans elevated these affairs and connected them with divinity, religions and gods; nowadays we are better informed to know that all these “elevated” events from the past were clearly a projection of the positive effects of the energy, power and well-being induced by such substances.
A traditional example of this in our modern society is wine, that is elevated from a condition of an innocent grape juice to one of a very expensive bottle and all of this creating entire industries and knowledge, which is the case of those global brands of liquors also.
So we started scratching our head towards this vision but not with a glass in hand, more like a pipe in mouth, and it is there where we started our ideas and tests.
The alchemy of ageing is phenomenal.
The aging process is potentially able to improve the quality of these kind of substances that are capable of altering the consciousness, so in ancient Rome this was done in sealed earthenware amphorae and kept for many years, this ageing model was prized for its ability to age for decades.
The natural freshness of any substance decays with time, mastering these perishable and deterioration processes can alter the aroma, color, mouthfeel and taste of these aged substances, where complex chemical reactions involving phenolic compounds, such as tannins, happen to elevate their properties in a way that may be more pleasing to the taster.
Cannabis same as wine, has a fairly high level of tannins which are the key to an adequate ageing, these tannins react with other components until they are unable to stay as part of the primal composition, setting them apart, in a process of natural purification, the natural aroma separates while being replaced by the bouquet of an aged component. So with luck and time, these aged substances become softer to the mouth and palate.
Cannabis is also biphasic in the way it affects us, meaning a small dose can have a different effect than a larger one, having a little can make us feel great but consume too much and you will wind up feeling terrible.
Cannabis, cannot be classified into a single category. Further beyond its medicinal and recreational properties, can actually act as a depressant, stimulant, or hallucinogen, depending on the strain, dose and the individual consuming habits, as cannabis affects different people in different ways.
Marijuana w**d has incredibly complex and diverse flavors, tannins, and aromas, depending on the type of strain or variety and even where the plants were grown. Its substances are full of different phytochemicals such as terpenes and flavonoids that produce various smells and tastes. Which phytochemicals are present and their ratios will largely influence the overall sensory impact of the cannabis.
The high from cannabis results from its interaction with the human body’s endocannabinoid system, it is here where all those good sensations come from.
